2008 Chatham County Governmental Directory

The 2008 Savannah -Chatham League of Women Voters Governmental Directory has been published and is now available to the public.

The directory provides a comprehensive listing of contacts for officials in Chatham County, the City of Savannah and the County's seven other municipalities. Also included in this valuable resource are key state and federal contacts, as well as a listing of locally appointed boards and commissions. The Directory includes maps detailing district boundaries for all local, state and federal elected offices.

The League of Women Voters Chatham County Governmental Directory is considered a "must have" for all engaged citizens. Cost of the Directory is $10 a book, and may be ordered by contacting League VP Ruth Casey at 598-7493 or emailing to andreasilverman@comcast.net. Updates to the directory will be done periodically and made available on the State of Georgia League of Women Voters Web site.

Metropolitan Planning Commission

The Metropolitan Planning Commission is a joint planning agency for the City of Savannah and Chatham County. Each governmental body appoints seven members to the board. Two of these members are the City and County Managers. These fourteen members serve without pay and represent government, private enterprise, and citizens' interest groups. Commissioners are appointed for three year overlapping terms. MPC staff, headed by an Executive Director, research and evaluate issues and prepare information for the Board's consideration and action.
